我第3次去 Shell 面试
我在一个法国小公司工作了半年，很开心，但知道没有前途。朋友介绍SHELL人事部(HR)要招 人，我赶紧递了简历。
面试官 David Lee (HR Manager – South China)
全英文面试，时间大概1.5 小时，面试自然少不了对我工作的回顾，然后主要讨论了计算机 的问题：
- 计算机到底有什么好处；
- 有什么坏处？
- 如何对付这些坏处？
- 计算机在未来的10年有什么新用途；
- 如何在中国推进计算机教育；
- 如何说服中国政府大规模采用计算机系统？
- 计算机对政府有什么用？
有些问题让我记忆犹新：
Q: Why do you want to change your job?
A: first, many friends of mine persuade me to be a big fish in a small pond, but I know you won’t find a big fish in the small pond, it can be only found in th e ocean. I should find the ocean and learn to become a big fish; second, accordi ng to my experience on badminton, you will never become a good player if you don ’t practice with the good player, I’m sure I can find a lot of good players in you company; I enjoy my time with my current company, but I know the long term development is more import to me;
Q: Are you going to pursue MBA program some day in the future?
A: yes, but I don’t have very high expectation on the result of it;
Q: why?
A: MBA program summarize the basic grammar of the business operation, it doesn’ t mean you are good at negotiation even you’re good at Chinese or English gramm ar, same logic, MBA course won’t make you have the real ability while facing ac tual business decision. But it’s still good to have some grammar foundation whe n you starting learning any language;

Q: …. Do yo mean the government should use common software?
Common software 是什么，我一时反应不过来，只好说：I don’t quite follow you? David 发现我是不都懂这个词，就解释说：standard software 我好没面子，这样都没听懂 。
这次面试比较顺利，第二天打电话来问我“明天能上班吗？”我很高兴地回答：“不行”结 果上班的第一项任务就是在3天内要看完800份学生简历，并整理出面试名单，从此我每年都 要参与校园招聘 – 那是1996年12月.
